Getting Settled

We are starting to settle in and find a new routine. We are still struggling with jet lag. Emily fell a sleep tonight on the couch at 6:30 while I was making dinner. Jacob only ate about half of his dinner before he refused to eat anymore and just sat and rubbed his eyes so he was in bed a little after 7:00 PM. Dave and I have been either in bed or a sleep on the couch by 8:30 or 9:00 pm each night - which we are usually not in bed until after the 11:00 PM news. Hopefully next week we will start to be on track with the right time zone.

Jacob has experienced alot of firsts since we came home. The first was meeting our dog. When Emily first meet Zeke she screamed bloody murder and we thought she would never like him or want him near her. Of coarse now she loves her Zekey-boy but it did take awhile. We had thought Jacob had been around a dog based on some of the pictures that we recieved from one of his quarterly update but still were not sure how the first meeting would go. When Dave got home from picking Zeke up Jacob was sleeping. When he woke up from his nap Dave and Zeke when into get him. He wasn't scared upset or really have any sort of reaction. I think Zeke was more curious about Jacob then he was about Zeke. He petted Zeke on the head and the bopped him on the nose. They have been pretty much co-existing since.

We then decided to go to Zoo Boo a little crazy on our part. But it is a family tradition. We have been going to Zoo Boo since Emily's first Halloween with Emily's cousins. She looks forward to it every year. Since we were feeling a little guilty about alot of what Emily has missed durning the time we were gone we decided to dress the kids up and meet Emily's cousins and a few other close family friends. Jacob and Emily had fun. I am sure Jacob really had no idea what going on around him but he did catch on that they were giving him candy. Which I have mentioned before he loves to eat! It was so cute, we had Jacob in the stroller and Emily was by his side the entire time holding onto the stroller. she was keeping tabs on her little brother.

Jacob then went Trick-or-Treating for the first time. Luckily for him Emily prefers to give the candy out to the kids rather than actually going Trick-or-Treating. Dave took them around to a few of the neighbors and after 5 houses she was ready to come home. But I got some cute pictures of the kids in their costumes.

Last night Emily woke up again in the middle of the night, something we have been dealing with since we got home so she was already up when Jacob woke up around 5:00 AM. We have two monitors in our room - one for each child becasue our bedrooms are not on the same level. So we could hear all that was going on. She went over into his room and was trying to console him. She kept talking to him and telling him that she was the big sister and that he was her little brother and that maybe she could sleep in his bed with him. Now one of the things that Emily doesn't like is sleeping alone. She always is looking for a reason to come up into our bed. So this really gave Dave and I a big chuckle. She is really being a great big sister!

Here are a few pictures of the kids from the past few days.
