Jacob's Firsts

Even though we meet Jacob when he was a little over two years old we have experienced many first with him. Saturday when we were at the lake Jacob had his first ice cream cone. You will all be happy to know that he takes after his mommy in the ice cream department. It was a winner.

Yesterday we went to the hotel playroom where they have some toys and play equipment. It is truly a godsend especially when you are living in a hotel room with a limited amount of toys. We spent three hours there yesterday with another Holt family that has a daughter Emily's age and their son is the same age as Jacob. So we were able to watch Jacob go down the slide for the first time and play in the ball pit. He is very cautious at first and needs to take it all in before he attempts something. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing - especially for a little boy! We are also discovering he has a devilish side - and you can see it in his smile just like his sister.

Dave has also taught Jacob how to give five. He will give daddy and Emily five but none for mommy just yet. Although coming home from the lake Dave had him in the hip hammock and had carried them most of the evening so I offered to take him for awhile and he let me put him in the hip hammock and carry him back to the hotel. I even got a few smiles when we were dancing in front of the electronics store that was demonstrating their speakers by blasting some music. He also seem to enjoy being sung too. He now has his own song sung to the music muffin man - it is do you know the Tan Tan man - we always get a smile when we sing it to him.

Dave has also gotten his first snuggle and hugs. I am patiently waiting for these - but know they will come in time. We have seen him go from a very scared little boy that was more like a limp dish rag to a little boy that is eager to play, loves to eat and is giving us more and more smiles each day. Even though we have missed so much we have received so much more!

Yes! Watching our Vu do all those firsts was just as exciting as watching a baby so I know what you mean :-)
Sounds like he is doing very well!
